Job Description:

Orijin Village is seeking a Community Manager - Social Media & Newsletter for a new full-time, evolving position. We are looking for an individual with integrity, dynamism, and a strong sense of initiative. We offer a stimulating environment where teamwork is highly valued.

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Communications and Philanthropy Manager, the Community Manager - Social Media & Newsletter will be responsible for supporting the department by creating meaningful engagement within our online community while effectively managing our newsletter to maximize our reach and impact.

Responsibilities:

  1. Social Media and Newsletter Strategy:
    • Develop and implement social media and newsletter strategies aligned with the organization's objectives.
    • Create engaging and relevant content for social media, including graphics, videos, and articles, to promote Orijin Village's initiatives and events.
    • Manage and optimize the editorial calendar for social media and the newsletter to ensure consistency and relevance of content.
  2. Social Media Management:
    • Monitor social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.) to respond to comments, direct messages, and mentions, maintaining a positive dialogue with the online community.
    • Conduct competitive analysis to stay updated on trends and best practices in social media.
    • Analyze social media performance, identify improvement opportunities, and provide regular reports on key performance indicators (KPIs).
  3. Newsletter Management:
    • Create attractive, informative, and targeted newsletters for subscribers, using tools such as Mailchimp, ensuring optimization of open and click-through rates.
    • Segment the subscriber list for targeted and personalized communications, analyzing demographic and behavioral data of subscribers.
    • Monitor newsletter performance, adjust strategies based on feedback and analysis, and continuously improve campaign effectiveness.
  4. Internal Collaboration:
    • Collaborate with internal teams to gather information about upcoming events, initiatives, and relevant news to share on social media and in the newsletter.
    • Work closely with the communications department to ensure message alignment across all platforms.

Your Contribution to Orijin Village Team:

  • Bachelor's degree in communication, marketing, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in community management and social media, preferably in the nonprofit sector or in an organization focused on social impact.
  • Excellent writing, communication, and creativity skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.) and newsletter automation tools like Mailchimp.
  • Ability to analyze data and draw conclusions to improve communication strategies.
  • Strong initiative, autonomy, and organizational skills, with keen attention to detail.
  • Passion for Orijin Village's mission and values, with a deep understanding of issues related to Afro-descendant communities.
