Project 10 is currently looking to hire an Executive Director to lead the organization in a proactive, organized and collaborative manner. Project 10 works to promote the personal, social, sexual and mental well being of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, transsexual, two-spirit, intersex and questioning (2SLGBTQ+) youth and adults 14-25. Through advocacy and education, using a harm reduction approach, Project 10 aims to facilitate the empowerment of youth at individual, community, and institutional levels with a particular emphasis on supporting individuals and groups who experience multiple and intersecting oppressions. Services are free of charge, confidential and anonymous, and are offered in English and French.

We are also hiring a Funding and Finance Director at the same time. Both of these positions will include the opportunity to benefit from a solid orientation process and ongoing coaching.

Terms:
$75,000 – $80,000 (commensurate with experience)
32-40 hrs per week according to your preference and the needs of the organization, with the possibility of some hybrid work

$500.00 per reference year (April 1-March 31) to be used toward self-care, upon approval by the Board of Directors
Four weeks vacation (two weeks are to be chosen by the employee, at least four weeks in advance, with the authorization of the Board of Directors; Two weeks are to be taken during the period when Project 10 is closed (one (1) week during the month of August and one (1) week during the month of December).

Main areas of responsibility:
Financial management
Collaborate with the Financial Director as needed to ensure the smooth functioning of financial management systems
Supervising and supporting staff
Oversee safety and security of premises for volunteers, staff and members;
Actively promote and contribute to an empowering, welcoming, positive and supportive work environment for staff and volunteers;
Do monthly supervision sessions to all staff (and more as needed);
Ensure that employees and volunteers are acting professionally and ethically, following the by-laws, policies and procedures of the organization;
Offer professional development opportunities to staff;
Work collaboratively with staff to ensure that the best quality of services are provided to members;
Ensure regular staff meetings are held (minimum twice / month) with all in attendance and minutes taken (possibility of rotating facilitation amongst staff);
Ensure that the organization follows all labour laws;
Ensure that HR records are kept up to date and confidential;
Recruit and onboard new staff as needed;
Work with staff and board volunteers to maintain and update HR policies;
Create as many leadership, collaborative decision-making and skills development opportunities for youth as possible within the organization and through the programs and services;
Promote and model a trusting, transparent and collaborative work culture within the team;

Governance
Ensure that by-laws and policies are upheld by staff, members, partners and volunteers;
Oversee and sign off on any communication made externally related to special or annual general meetings;
Develop and/or update policies and procedures where needed e.g. credit card policy, grievance policy, social media use policy, code of conduct;
Create an onboarding package and arrange for a training session for the board;
Ensure that incoming board members are adequately briefed and trained;
Ensure prompt reporting on programs, finance, and operations as a whole for incoming board;
Ensure a direct means of communication between staff and board e.g. staff reports to the board done through rotating staff members, and reports back from board meetings by rotating staff;
Explore the possibility of establishing a Youth Council (with governance committee)
Contract external facilitators and consultants when needed to ensure the health and good functioning of the organization;

Communications
Work with staff to send out regular communications via e-newsletter and social media to members;
Coordinate with staff to ensure appropriate use and regular updating of all of the organizations’ communications platforms with regards to hours and services;
Maintain transparency and clarity with members and donors;
After working to find other solutions, ensure that any closure periods are communicated in advance to the membership;
Work with staff to keep records of attendance at activities and other pertinent information that is required for funders;
Building / Infrastructure
Oversee the regular cleaning and security of the office space;
Liaise with the landlord as needed;
Ensure rent is paid on time and that any maintenance issues that fall within the scope of the lease are flagged in writing to the landlords promptly;
Create an inventory list and ensure the safety and security of all equipment on and off the premises;
Ensure that proper IT systems are functioning and contract support when necessary;

Requirements
Available to work in person in Montreal (at the P10 offices in the neighbourhood of Ahunstic)
Lived experience in 2SLGBTQI+ communities;
Minimum of 3-5 years experience in a management, coordination or administrative position in the non-profit sector, specifically with experience in supporting and supervising staff;
Functional bilingualism e.g. ability to converse with members and partners comfortably in French and English, ability to write grants in French and English;
Commitment to upholding the bylaws, policies, values and approaches of the organization;
Past experience in contributing to and upholding an anti-oppressive, equitable workplace;
Strong, organized financial management and oversight skills;
Strong ability to communicate and act in a professional and ethical way;
Ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities simultaneously;
Collaborative, confident leadership style;
Previous experience recruiting, supervising, supporting, and when necessary, overseeing disciplinary actions with staff;
Strong group facilitation skills and past experience with consensus-based decision-making;
Comfortable with potentially working with staff partially in person and partially remote;

Assets:
Previous experience working in any of the following: 2SLGBTQI+ organization, youth organization, BIPOC organization, health and social services organization, direct service provision organization etc.;
Previous experience with governance e.g. special general meetings, onboarding new board members, writing policy;
Previous experience recruiting, supervising, supporting and when necessary, overseeing disciplinary actions with volunteers and contractors
Conflict resolution skills.
