Job TypeContract
Deadline to Apply11/11/2024
Salary24 $
The Little Burgundy and Griffintown Coalition / Healthy Neighborhood, is the community's roundtable. Its mission is to work towards improving the quality of life of Little Burgundy residents and promoting their participation in community life. The Coalition has some sixty members, including residents, community organizations and institutional representatives. Its actions are mainly carried out through three standing committees: development and living environment, youth and health, and food.
Local Food Village (VAL)
Based on the thinking and work of a group of tenants' associations in Little Burgundy's HLMs, and inspired by the work of the neighborhood committee, the Coalition worked in concert with these groups and with citizens and groups aware of the food issues experienced in their area, with the aim of collectively developing responses to these issues.
The Local Food Village (LFV) is the result of an effort spread over several months and supported by groups specializing in the subject.
Following numerous meetings and discussions, the VAL was composed of three main elements:
- A citizen café (which offers low-cost meals and organizes get-togethers and exchanges around a snack that the community wants to consolidate and perpetuate).
- An industrial kitchen (which needs to be fully equipped and commissioned) that will provide a local response to food production and proximity issues, while offering work and training facilities.
- A space reserved for the creation of a convenience store based on the social economy that would sell industrial production and offer a range of products meeting the specific needs of the community.
Added to this is a fourth essential element: the participation and involvement of the Comité de quartier, citizens from all walks of life, organizations that believe in this project and the Coalition de la Petite- Bourgogne,
Under the supervision of the coordinator and in collaboration with fellow project managers, the successful candidate will ensure the development of food processing and sales activities.
